Dear legal practitioners,

EIPA Luxembourg – European Centre for Judges and Lawyers is organising a seminar on “The European Arrest Warrant – 10 years of practice” which will be held in Luxembourg, on 28-29 September 2015.

The purpose of the seminar is two-fold: firstly, to provide participants with information on the use, domestic application and evaluation of the European Arrest Warrant (EAW). Emphasis will be placed on how to issue an EAW, how national judiciaries understand the various grounds of refusals, as well as which issues defence lawyers may want to look at. The practical administration of EAWs will be complemented however with the discussion of constitutional and fundamental rights issues that posed difficulties whilst applying the instrument, and which gave rise to litigation before both the Court of Justice of the European Union and the national courts.

This interactive seminar is specially designed for practitioners in the fields of the judiciary (judges, prosecutors) and law enforcement (police, customs and other national forces), defence lawyers, administrators and officers from EU institutions and agencies, officials in ministries of justice and the interior, and law-makers/legislators.

The registration fee amounts to 825 Euro and includes 2 days of training, 2 standing lunches, a reception, beverages and seminar materials.
